Scrophularia is a plant traditionally used in various herbal practices but lacks specific recorded traditional uses. Scientific evidence indicates that a 5% concentration of QH ointment may show significant improvement in wound healing, though more research is needed to confirm these findings. In another study, GA treatments demonstrated moderate benefits for seedling growth and germination speed in Scrophularia striata, while hydropriming also showed some positive effects. Additionally, HPG has been shown to alleviate sepsis-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in mice by modulating gut microbiota, increasing acetate production, which activates FFAR2 to reprogram immune responses. TCM compound prescriptions containing Scrophularia have exhibited potential in reducing TCM syndrome scores and improving thyroid and immune-related indicators in patients with Graves' disease, though the evidence is still preliminary. No major safety issues or drug interactions have been recorded for this plant, but further research is warranted to fully understand its applications and effects.
