Porophyllum punctatum

Porophyllum punctatum is a plant traditionally used with no specific recorded practices or applications. Scientific evidence for its medicinal properties is limited, but some species of the Asteraceae family, including Artemisia, have shown antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria; however, further clinical studies are required to substantiate these findings. Research has also explored how seasonality and habitat structure influence plant-herbivore interactions through changes in connectance, selectiveness, and modularity. Additionally, structural differences between leaf canals and secretory cavities in Asteraceae have been identified based on developmental origin and cellular modifications. In agricultural settings, alley cropping systems were found to reduce common weed species and alter weed community composition without affecting corn grain yield in southern Mexico. No major safety issues or drug interactions have been recorded for Porophyllum punctatum.
