Sansevieria

Sansevieria, commonly known as snake plant, is a genus of plants traditionally used for various purposes but lacks specific traditional medicinal uses in recorded history. Scientific studies have shown promising results with Sansevieria trifasciata cv. Laurentii, indicating higher shoot regeneration efficiency from light-exposed single-node rhizome explants compared to other types. There is some evidence suggesting potential nephroprotective effects due to the plant's phytochemical content, although this area requires further research. Among the Ongota/Birale people, 31 plant taxa including Sansevieria ehrenbergii are documented for traditional health practices. Studies also indicate that both Sansevieria trifasciata hydrogels and emodin-based double network hydrogels can reduce wound size and enhance cell proliferation. No major safety concerns or recorded drug interactions have been identified, but further investigation is warranted to fully understand its potential benefits and applications.
