Tarenna hoaensis

Tarenna hoaensis, also known as Mo-Ha-Rak, is a plant traditionally used in Thai medicine. While its specific uses are not well-documented, studies have identified potential therapeutic effects through various compounds targeting inflammatory pathways involved in prolonged fever and HSV-1 infection inhibition. KerraTM and KSTM extracts showed significant inhibition of HSV-1 at concentrations between 50-200 μg/mL. Additionally, the study highlighted several other traditional Thai remedies with potential health benefits, including anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, and anti-Alzheimer's properties. Notably, a specific ratio (1:9 w/w) of extracts from Dracaena cochinchinensis stemwood and Ardisia elliptica fruit demonstrated synergistic neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects in cell cultures. To date, no major safety issues or drug interactions have been recorded for Tarenna hoaensis, but further research is needed to confirm these findings comprehensively.
